Nicola Formichetti is to step down as Artistic Director of Italian retail company Diesel. Arriving in 2013 as the companies first Artistic Director, Formichetti has helped moved the brand forward by collaborating on campaigns with photographers such as Nick Knight. He told WWD “I’ve had a good time, but we both decided to end it here. I travel a lot to New York and Tokyo. I want to concentrate on my projects, but there will always be a bond between us. It’s not the end with Diesel, but I have my own brand Nicopanda. There will be more styling, going deeper with musicians and actors. My dream is to work on a movie.” Formichetti’s own brand, Nicopanda, has recently collaborated with Urban Outfitters & Champion and it is thought an announcement will come soon of another high street retailer collaboration, with an expansion into its own retail in 2018.
